While I’m not completely sure how I feel about Andrew Capener’s take on the classic Scrabble game, I do like the idea of players having some new typeface options. A refreshing change for sure.
New projects, work in progress, photos, and collected bits of interestingness from all over.
I came across some greeting cards the other day that were unmistakably the work of Jon Klassen. This prompted me to have another look at his portfolio, which is full of layered illustrations with clear ideas. I also highly recommend watching his animated short, An Eye for Annai, if you haven’t seen it already.
Pen Pencil Stencil is the alliterative title of designer Mark Giglio’s studio. I first discovered his work by way of the Herman Miller blog, which has some great images of his colorful workspace.
Fifty and Fifty is an ongoing project curated by Dan Cassaro in which 50 designers illustrate the mottos of all 50 states. A new illustration is posted every weekday. The one shown above is Louisiana’s state motto illustrated by A. Micah Smith.
Peter Olofsson’s photo blog documents daily life in Sweden. He does a great job of making just about everything look beautiful.
Paul Barbera is a photographer who does a lot of traveling, and takes photos of the workspaces of creative people he finds along the way.
San Francisco based design duo Mike Simonian and Maaike Evers make thoughtful work. I was vaguely familiar with them, but didn’t realize how many of their projects I had seen before until I came across their site recently (which, by the way, is also very well done).
This is the first book I designed that was actually published, and somehow it managed to slip through the cracks the last time I updated my portfolio. Have a look here. I’m looking forward to finishing up a few more projects in the next week or two.
