Ferocious Quarterly is a new curated publication that “collects illustrators, graphic artists, short fiction authors and written text.” I kind of really love what’s going on right now in the world of independently published magazines. Ferocious has a pretty fantastic website too, with quite a few tasty features. I might have to get myself a copy of the quarterly – you can get one of your own here.
New projects, work in progress, photos, and collected bits of interestingness from all over.

Adoree and I took a field trip to Architectural Artifacts today, which is located near Chicago’s Ravenswood neighborhood. The enormous showroom includes an eclectic mix of antique furniture and, quite literally, pieces of architecture from all over the world. The collection features everything from ornate mantle pieces from England to giant hand-carved buddha statues from Thailand.

I would love to see this book in person. The Geometry of Pasta breaks the trend of traditional photo-based cookbooks in favor of simple black and white illustrations. The dust jacket also conveniently folds out into a poster. Illustrations are by Caz Hildebrand of Here Design.
A new transparency from Good Magazine looks at the sources and topics most frequently used in blog and twitter posts on the internet. The results aren’t terribly surprising, but the information is presented in a very concise style thanks to Damien Correll and Garrett Morin of Part & Parcel — they don’t have a lot of work on their site yet, but I’m excited to see more.
I’m glad to see that Michel Gondry is still directing music videos. I came across this one today, and it’s just as simple and effective as his others.

An interesting look at how endangered languages are being documented in New York:
“It’s hard to use a word like preserve with a language,” said Robert Holman, who teaches at Columbia and New York Universities… “It’s not like putting jelly in a jar. A language is used. Language is consciousness.”

I’ve been really intrigued lately by the furniture designs of Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec. The photos of their exhibitions are definitely worth a look, as is the recent tour of their studio on Apartment Therapy.
Hello, stranger.
