A friend of mine recently sent me a link to the portfolio of Jan Avendano. I was particularly intrigued by her The Same But Different series, which is shown here.

I can’t get enough of Harry Clarke lately. More of his meticulous illustrations for Edgar Allen Poe at 50 Watts.

This is my submission for the Threadless / Steven Alan pattern design challenge. There’s still a little time left to rate it here.

I came across some greeting cards the other day that were unmistakably the work of Jon Klassen. This prompted me to have another look at his portfolio, which is full of layered illustrations with clear ideas. I also highly recommend watching his animated short, An Eye for Annai, if you haven’t seen it already.

Ferocious Quarterly is a new curated publication that “collects illustrators, graphic artists, short fiction authors and written text.” I kind of really love what’s going on right now in the world of independently published magazines. Ferocious has a pretty fantastic website too, with quite a few tasty features. I might have to get myself a copy of the quarterly – you can get one of your own here.

I would love to see this book in person. The Geometry of Pasta breaks the trend of traditional photo-based cookbooks in favor of simple black and white illustrations. The dust jacket also conveniently folds out into a poster. Illustrations are by Caz Hildebrand of Here Design.
